Professor Patrick Gunning with the Gorys family
Nicholas Gorys beat leukemia and now wants to help give others a fighting chance. The 13-year-old and his family raised more than $1,200 for the Gunning Group Lab at a pancake breakfast in March. The family visited the lab this spring to present their donation. “It was very inspirational to meet a researcher like Dr. Gunning who is so close to coming up with new ways of treating different blood cancers,” says Nicholas’ older brother, Mark. The Gorys family hopes their gift will help lead to new, less toxic therapeutics.
